In the opening scene, I thought I clicked the wrong show as it was like watching a spy thriller. But bear with it, you're on the right drama and you'll understand in the final episode.
What I Love
Love all the characters, well, except for Manager Ma, who shouts the loudest (and a sexist, to boot) but works the least, if you ask the employees.
I love Geu Rae. He makes me cry because he is so pure, probably because he spent practically all his life learning and playing baduk, which can be a solitary game.
His colleagues look down on his because he didn't go to university and doesn't speak any foreign language. But we see that he is super smart - he has to be being a baduk player. This game is not just about moving pieces - it's all about strategy, thinking 10 or more moves ahead.
Misaeng is Relatable
Of course, the drama is focused on Korean office culture - which can be fascinating and awful at the same time.
But anyone who has ever worked in an office can relate - the dog eat dog nature of corporate life, the need to kiss ass to a senior employee, the need to play office politics to survive, the joy of accomplishing even the smallest task, the fun of bonding with colleagues, and more.
Rating: 5 stars
At no point in the whole drama did I get bored. From the first episode to the last, you will want to find out what happens to Geu Rae - sympathize and hate all those people who are making life difficult for him.
Misaeng: The Incomplete is a great watch. There is a reason it got high ratings during its entire run. Any office worker can relate about the goings on of office life and personally I was hoping for the best for Geu-Rae and his idealistic manager and in every episode until the last I wanted to see him succeed.
